About the role
The Business Analyst II is accountable for ensuring that project solutions meet the customer's true needs. They work on medium-sized technology-related projects and/or phases/components of large technology-related projects with generally medium complexity and/or medium business risk.
Responsibilities
- Elicit and capture current state process and requirements associated with the problem or opportunity presented.
- Facilitate the evaluation and understanding of the business true need via business analysis following Business Analysis best practices.
- Collaborate with the project team to define solution options, both technical and business in nature.
- Analyze and evaluate solution options considering business, technical, and security requirements and costs and benefits associated with each option.
- Work with the project team to refine and clarify requirements for proper solution development and/or implementation.
- Train/mentor colleagues on business analysis best practices, System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices, and cross-functional project dependencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with emphasis on Business, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related area of study preferred.
- 7 years commensurate experience in Business Analysis, 5-7 years need to be job-specific.
- Strong interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills including creative thinking, systematic analysis, and visual representation.
- Strong aptitude for learning new systems and understanding their capabilities and configurations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to ensure clear understanding of concepts, needs, and solutions, especially in challenging or stressful situations.
- Strong requirement elicitation, analysis, communication, verification, and validation skills.
- Strong facilitation of communication related to business problems and opportunities.
- Strong understanding of functional design methods and implementation of both technical and non-technical solutions.
- Strong requirements specification writing skills in both technical and user-friendly language.
- Strong business process mapping skills.
- Experience with System Development Life Cycles.
- Strong teaching skills to educate colleagues on new solutions to ensure successful change.
- Strong analysis of data relationships, system integration considerations, and development platforms.
- Strong listening skills, particularly in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of technology solutions and organizational structure and strategic direction.
- Experience with Business Analysis best practices as defined in the latest version of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.
- Experience with various project management methodologies.
- Self-motivated and works well with minimal supervision.
- Preferred certification of competency in Business Analysis (e.g., CCBA).
- Leverage Lean / Six Sigma experience.
- Prioritize insurance industry coursework or designations.
