Business Analyst I

About the Role

The Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the operational and administrative functions and systems of the Bank and the IT Organization. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, developing, documenting, and communicating business requirements, as well as supporting user testing to achieve business goals. Business Analysts identify opportunities to increase client satisfaction, deepen relationships, and manage client expectations. They collaborate with IT team members to determine appropriate solutions, assess impacts on existing processes, and proactively identify technology opportunities that support Bank strategies. The role involves educating project teams on business goals and translating technical and business language to facilitate collaboration across groups.

Responsibilities

• Works with business partners to align technology solutions with business strategies.
• Serves as an IT Team member supporting low to moderately complex business processes.
• Establishes and maintains liaison relationships between business partners and the IT Organization to provide effective technical solutions.
• Seeks opportunities to improve and deepen relationships between IT and business partners.
• Conducts data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements.
• May assess client needs using a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to identify business priorities.
• Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements, including business environment, vision, rules, risks, and stakeholder information.
• Builds use cases to identify functional requirements that satisfy business needs.
• Provides assistance in documenting current business processes and models.
• Assists in business case development (e.g., research, data collection).
• Assists in the development of user test cases and validates test results during testing.
• Executes test cases.
• Investigates and documents problems, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Provides support for analyzing client satisfaction data (e.g., creating reports, research, documentation).
• Supports efforts to ensure IT solutions meet client needs.
• Participates in job-specific and bank training programs as necessary.
• Maintains current knowledge of internal risk controls, loss prevention, and reporting of suspicious activity per bank policy.
• Complies with all federal and state laws, regulations, and Bank policies, including audit controls related to department operations.
• Maintains current knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws applicable to BSA/OFAC/USA Patriot Act/CIP/AML.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (complete or in-progress) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Banking experience required.
• Typically requires 1-3 years of relevant technical or business work experience.
• Technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of IIBA principles and practices.

Organization

This position reports to the Systems Support Manager and does not oversee other positions.
