Vista Equity Partners (Vista) is a leading global investment firm that invests exclusively in enterprise software, data and technology-enabled companies across private equity, credit, public equity and permanent capital strategies. The firm brings an approach that prioritizes creating enduring market value for the benefit of its global ecosystem of investors, portfolio companies, customers, and employees. Vista’s investments are anchored by a sizable long-term capital base, experience in structuring technology-oriented transactions and proven, flexible management techniques that drive sustainable growth.

About the Role

Vista’s Business Technology team is seeking a motivated, curious, and AI-forward Business Analyst to support its corporate stakeholder groups. Business Technology serves as the firm’s internal technology enablement function, working to make workflows more efficient, reduce manual effort, improve processes, and maintain a clear understanding of the overall enterprise architecture across the firm. With 300+ applications in daily use, the team plays a critical role in determining technology needs, evaluating solutions, customizing implementations, and driving adoption across the business.

This individual contributor role supports HR, Finance, the Value Creation Team (VCT), and OneVista. The Business Analyst will work closely with both business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements, support system configuration, assist with adoption efforts, and help identify opportunities for process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Enablement & Process Improvement
    • Develop familiarity with the technology platforms and workflows used by HR, Finance, VCT, and OneVista, building toward subject-matter expertise over time.
    • Identify, evaluate, and help recommend solutions—whether net new vendors or internally built tools—to address gaps in the firm’s technology stack.
    • Maintain an understanding of Vista’s enterprise application landscape, flagging integration opportunities, redundancies, and deprecation candidates to the team.
    • Coordinate with the broader technology team on cross-platform integrations and data flows to ensure connectivity across systems.
    • Contribute to process improvement efforts across both Business Technology’s internal operations and the workflows of supported stakeholder groups.
  • AI & Automation
    • Bring an AI-first mindset to daily work, actively leveraging Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT Enterprise, Slackbot, Replit, and other AI development platforms to accelerate delivery and reduce repetitive manual effort.
    • Help build automated workflows and lightweight internal tools that reduce friction for stakeholders and improve team consistency.
    • Identify opportunities to apply intelligent automation across supported business functions, from document processing and reporting to workflow orchestration and data validation.
    • Stay current on the evolving AI tooling landscape and flag relevant capabilities to the team.
  • Business Analysis & Requirements
    • Gather, document, and help prioritize requirements from stakeholders across HR, Finance, VCT, and OneVista, translating business needs into user stories, process maps, and functional specifications.
    • Maintain well-organized documentation for all initiatives, keeping a reliable record of decisions, configurations, and open items throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Support test planning and execution for system changes and new implementations—helping define test cases, coordinate testers, track defects, and assist with UAT to ensure solutions meet business needs before deployment.
    • Track and report on KPIs for supported platforms and workflows, surfacing issues and escalating as appropriate.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build working relationships across Vista’s corporate teams, serving as a reliable point of contact for technology questions, requests, and day-to-day support.
    • Partner with the broader technology team on initiative prioritization, delivery coordination, and operational support.
    • Communicate clearly and proactively with stakeholders on project status, timelines, and upcoming changes, adjusting the level of detail based on the audience.
    • Assist in preparing reporting and materials that summarize project status and technology updates for team leads and firm leadership.
    • Support a portfolio of concurrent projects across varying complexity and timeframes, while staying responsive to ad hoc and urgent needs such as bug fixes, access requests, and time-sensitive deliverables.
    • Actively participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly organized, and eager to build expertise at the intersection of business analysis, technology, and operations. They are a fast learner who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, and brings an interest in using technology—with a focus on AI—to solve problems and improve processes. They are comfortable asking questions, navigating ambiguity, and working across teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • One to three years of experience in a business analyst, operations, technology support, or similar role; recent graduates with strong internship or project experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated AI and automation mindset with hands-on or academic experience using AI-powered tools such as Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT Enterprise, Slackbot, Replit, or similar platforms; a genuine enthusiasm for building with AI and improving workflows is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills, ideally with experience building reports or dashboards in Salesforce, Sigma, Excel, or PowerBI. Exposure to Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is a plus.
  • Solid foundation in requirements gathering and documentation, with the ability to translate conversations into clear written summaries, user stories, or process notes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt tone and detail level for different audiences, from technical teammates to business stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously without losing track of priorities or follow-ups.
  • Collaborative, comfortable working across teams, asking for help, and contributing to a group effort.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Exposure to or interest in private equity, investment management, or professional services is a plus but not required.
