About the Role

Perform analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to support business operations within the BGE Relay & Controls department. This role requires experience with PowerBI to conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other general financial and operational analysis. Monitor and coordinate activities to support operational performance management (e.g., safety, reliability, service level, productivity).

This is an individual contributor position working under general supervision, handling non-routine tasks and resolving most questions through interaction with stakeholders. Occasional mentorship of less experienced colleagues may be required. Position may require extended hours or shift work during storms or energy delivery emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to short-term and long-range business planning.
  • Conduct modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, and business case development for financial and operational analysis (e.g., operational effectiveness, budget, resource allocation, workforce and capacity utilization, competitor analysis).
  • Provide statistical information to optimize personnel, equipment, and material utilization.
  • Monitor and coordinate activities for operational performance management (e.g., safety, reliability, service level, productivity).
  • Track, maintain, analyze, and report on business scorecards or key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze cost elements to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Prepare and analyze detailed standard and non-standard reports.
  • Develop, organize, and present performance reports for internal and external use.
  • Provide analytical and operational support to the business unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering and 2–4 years of related business experience, or a minimum of 3–6 years of relevant business experience in lieu of a degree.
  • General understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes, and business fundamentals in asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, or related areas.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project) and specialized business technologies (e.g., workforce management, project management, PassPort, Brio, CIS, EPS, Business Objects, SAP, business modeling, forecasting tools).
  • Ability to apply managerial accounting concepts, customer intelligence gathering, forecasting, staff planning, scheduling, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Experience in business case development and presentation to leadership.
  • Customer-driven with strong oral and written communication skills, analytical abilities, problem-solving, and project management.
  • Knowledge of performance analysis practices (trending, root cause, gap analysis), benchmarking, and audit compliance.
  • Ability to analyze organizational data, interpret findings, and recommend actionable strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Power BI (dashboards, reporting, data models).
  • Strong understanding of data management and data quality practices.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and develop KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or data querying tools.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and automation tools.
