Business Analyst

Title: Business Analyst Department: Information Technology Reports To: IT Business Analysis Manager FLSA: Exempt Grade: 11 Position Summary Work with stakeholders and end users to design, modify and implement system solutions to meet the needs and requirements of the Authority. Participate in all phases of the development process including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support for MSBA Applications and other systems used by the Authority. Elicit, analyze and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and transaction processing systems. Capture requirements and changes through functional specification and configuration documentation. Acts as liaison between IT and business users as well as be the primary tester of the MSBA Application’s functionality. Essential Functions And Responsibilities Analyze client business processes/requirements and develops corresponding processes and data flows (functional specifications and change management)Document and provides recommendations for future business processes and drive towards continuous process improvementsGather and understand business user requirements; create solutions and evaluate outcomesDevelop comprehensive end to end test cases at the application and multi-application levels including testing strategies, testing conditions and evaluation of expected resultsActs as IT point person for coordinating and supporting User Acceptance TestingDocument action items, status reports, and post-project evaluations as requiredGather and analyze data as requestedCreate BI reports and visualizations as neededCreate and maintain user, technical and operational documentation that describes program source, logic and corrections or changesConduct user training as neededServe as the primary contact for internal and external user access requests. Serve as the point of contact to solve user application access issuesResolve business users’ questions and problems, elevate issues as appropriateParticipate on assigned MSBA project teams and procurements where technical representation is requiredPerform other duties as assigned Required Education, Experience And Skills Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science or other related discipline. Five or more years of experience in business analysis, software implementation and/or software quality assuranceAbility to work hybrid work schedule - minimum of two (2) in-office days per weekExperience with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365 and web technologies. Direct experience with the various stages of the SDLCAbility to achieve successful results working closely with end business users and developers in both agile and waterfall development environments. Ability to drive team projects to completion without jeopardizing quality. Ability to interpret, analyze, and write complex business systems and documents clearly and conciselyExperience with business process improvementExperience with flow charts and screen mock ups using MS Visio and/or other softwareExperience writing and executing test cases/plans and user storiesStrong experience with User Acceptance TestingAbility to effectively present information to end users, the development team and the Director of ITExceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations Strong Project Management skillsFamiliarity with data analytics and visualizations including using tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI.
