Business Analyst

About the role

The Business Analyst plays a critical role in supporting ongoing product development by managing new business requests, assessing change impacts, prioritizing and sequencing the scrum team backlog, and collaborating with the scrum team to prepare, execute, and deliver work across a 2-week sprint cadence. This role partners with Product Owners to align tactical delivery and sprint plans with strategic roadmaps and release plans. The Business Analyst will develop expertise in rapidly evolving product offerings, the supporting technology, and the broader pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
• Work directly with the product organization, representing the sales team’s systems tools and processes.
• Operate within an Agile methodology, ensuring the team delivers value in a user- and functionality-driven context.
• Analyze business operations to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for process automation.
• Assist in business process redesign and documentation for new technology implementations.
• Translate high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manage changes to these specifications.
• Maintain working knowledge of business and technical functionalities within assigned product offerings.
• Provide consultative assistance to business users and stakeholders seeking to streamline processes by analyzing problems, opportunities, and solutions.
• Write user stories, maintain a healthy delivery team backlog, and collaborate in Agile team ceremonies.
• Ensure all stories are well-documented and the team shares a common understanding of tasks.
• Anticipate, quantify, and resolve issues related to requirements.
• Communicate with clients and stakeholders using data process models to clarify and validate requirements.
• Address questions and issues related to system functionality and support business implementation of new systems.
• Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external) and the software development team for requirements flow.
• Partner with Product & Solutions Leads to develop specifications, wireframes, diagrams, and flowcharts for programmers.
• Perform responsibilities in compliance with IT policies and client performance standards.
• Act as the main point of contact for the Agile delivery team regarding business or functional questions, impediments, or dependencies.
• Maintain confidentiality to protect user and business information.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including punctuality and preparedness for scheduled work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or management information systems.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Engineer, or equivalent role.
• Ideally, experience within the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, or Healthcare industry.

Skills

• Demonstrated experience in a business analysis role within an Agile delivery environment.
• Ability to translate abstract concepts or problems into tactical delivery approaches.
• Ability to partner with Product and Technology teams to prioritize and sequence work.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.
• Critical thinking skills to evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information, and abstract details into a general understanding.
• Experience working alongside development and testing teams to ensure accurate understanding throughout analysis and execution.
• Management and maintenance of requirements traceability.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet demanding deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word), Microsoft Visio, Project, and SharePoint.

• Preferred Skills:
• Strong understanding of Business Analysis and Agile Delivery.
• Healthcare and/or Pharmaceutical industry experience or knowledge.
• Experience using Jira to create work items and collaborate with Agile teams for prioritization, planning, and execution.
• Experience developing and customizing requirements, process, and design documentation.
• Experience leading demonstrations of working tested software to end-users for feedback.
• Experience performing requirements, design, and testing activities.
• Understanding of system architecture and a desire to participate in development strategy.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and accompanying functional documentation.

Pay

$71,000–$88,000 per year.
