About the role
We are looking for a Business Analyst to gather functional requirements, identify current and future business flows, and develop functional requirement documentation for a large-scale tax system modernization. This position is a contract role and hybrid in Trenton, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather functional requirements, identify current and future business flows, and create as-is and to-be business models.
- Develop functional requirement documentation for a large-scale tax system modernization.
- Create a requirements traceability matrix, perform GAP analysis to validate alignment between approved requirements, current business processes, and the vendor's proposed solution.
- Develop comprehensive UAT strategies and test scripts/user stories, coordinate validation activities, and ensure deployed functionality meets business expectations.
- Proactively identify and communicate potential business process re-engineering needs.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user flow diagrams, process models, requirements traceability matrix, ad-hoc business reports, and forms/correspondence specification documentation.
- Conduct user research to assess customer pain points and identify opportunities and risks for improving the customer's digital experience.
- Capture requirements from various stakeholders, synthesize them with scope, priority, expected behavior, and risks associated with the request.
- Collaborate with the design team in brainstorming sessions to discuss business scope and provide design feedback on performance, customer experience, and security measures.
- Perform GAP analysis and document gaps between existing business requirements and the "as-is" business model to define requirements for procuring a new system.
- Identify issues/risks associated with Epics/Features/Stories, communicate with the business team or Product Owner, and determine risk mitigation plans.
- Ensure team productivity by creating and maintaining documentation, including user flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, and ad-hoc reports.
- Assess project documentation to provide feedback on the team's needs.
- Coordinate between the State Agency Project Manager and Vendor to ensure a seamless process.
- Create business, logical, and physical data models.
- Collaborate with business partners (State Agency and Vendor) to research and validate functional requirements, technical requirements, and use cases.
- Create detailed functional designs, process flows, and use cases.
- Review, comment, follow-up, and target reported defects and enhancement requests.
- Participate in user meetings to understand customer processes, ideas, and issues.
- Work closely with vendors/developers to ensure the product is built to specifications.
- Collaborate with team members throughout the Software Development Life Cycle for requirements gathering, feedback on proposed designs, and user acceptance testing.
- Use best practice risk management, anticipate and assess risks, and create mitigation plans.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of customer deliverables.
- Participate in requirements prioritization and facilitate negotiation of requirements among multiple stakeholders.
- Manage requirements traceability information and track requirements status throughout the project.
- Manage changes to baselined requirements through effective application of change control processes and tools.
- Provide updates as required.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in business analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of requirements traceability, elicitation, and developing test cases and scenarios.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and the implementation of Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions.
- Experience with As-Is and To-Be modeling.
- Experience in standard concepts, practices, and deliverables related to Business Analysis in support of software development projects.
- Experience with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Ability to translate high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements specifying an appropriate level of detail.
- Superior planning skills with the ability to handle large workloads and facilitate the activities of dynamic work groups.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex application issues.
- Exceptional research skills and resourcefulness.
- Proven ability to lead diverse groups of resources to solution agreement by leveraging influencing skills to drive consensus.
- Effective communication skills; listening, written, and verbal; ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experienced user of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Teams, and MS PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the implementation of Salesforce applications.
- Experience with large-scale system modernization.
- Knowledge of COTS/SaaS large-scale implementations/modernizations.
- Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
