Bus Quality Assurance Representative 1

About the role

Hatch is seeking a Bus Factory Resident Inspector to join their team in Saint Cloud, MN. The ideal candidate will have ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer and/or Quality Inspector, bus and/or automotive experience, and a minimum of 5 years of rail vehicle experience.

Responsibilities

• Physical inspection of components and systems of in-process and/or completed buses to ensure compliance with approved drawings and contract requirements.
• Review of bus manufacturer test and inspection records, follow-up on nonconforming items, and corrective actions.
• Inspection and review of prototype and first article equipment, preparing and submitting proper documentation upon completion of inspections.
• Investigate and assist in resolving quality problems.
• Prepare and submit Weekly Site Quality Reports to the Project Manager, including accurate PowerPoint presentations comparing manufacturer's status to production schedule.
• Clearly and concisely report all non-compliances against specifications or approved drawings.
• Participate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits, and attend daily/weekly quality meetings with the bus manufacturer.
• Acquire and coordinate assistance with the Hatch Project Engineering staff to resolve problems or obtain technical input.
• Must possess the ability to read and interpret drawings & standards and use precision measuring devices.

Requirements

• High School graduate with technical schooling or associate degree.
• A minimum of 5 years of rail vehicle experience.
• Recognized Industry certifications, such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector/Engineer/Auditor, are desired.
• AWS certification as a Welding Inspector is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with technical schooling or associate degree.
• Experience in manufacturing & production environments.
• Experience in the automotive industry, and/or with bus production, overhaul and/or testing.

Skills

• ASQ Certification as a Quality Engineer and/or Quality Inspector.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and commonly used ASTM standards.
• Experience auditing internally & externally.
• Knowledge of root cause investigation, calibration, measurement accuracy, effective corrective and preventive action, problem solving, process improvement, best workmanship practices.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• The ability to work well alone or in a team.

Pay

$90,000 - $105,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
