About the role
Hatch is seeking a Bus Factory Resident Inspector to join their team in Saint Cloud, MN. The ideal candidate will have ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer and/or Quality Inspector, bus and/or automotive experience, and a minimum of 5 years of rail vehicle experience.
Responsibilities
- Physical inspection of components and systems of in-process and/or completed buses to ensure compliance with approved drawings and contract requirements.
- Review of bus manufacturer test and inspection records, follow-up on nonconforming items, and corrective actions.
- Inspection and review of prototype and first article equipment, preparing and submitting proper documentation upon completion of inspections.
- Investigate and assist in resolving quality problems.
- Prepare and submit Weekly Site Quality Reports to the Project Manager, including accurate PowerPoint presentations comparing manufacturer's status to production schedule.
- Clearly and concisely report all non-compliances against specifications or approved drawings.
- Participate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits, and attend daily/weekly quality meetings with the bus manufacturer.
- Acquire and coordinate assistance with the Hatch Project Engineering staff to resolve problems or obtain technical input.
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret drawings & standards and use precision measuring devices.
Requirements
- High School graduate with technical schooling or associate degree.
- A minimum of 5 years of rail vehicle experience.
- Recognized Industry certifications, such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector/Engineer/Auditor, are desired.
- AWS certification as a Welding Inspector is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma with technical schooling or associate degree.
- Experience in manufacturing & production environments.
- Experience in the automotive industry, and/or with bus production, overhaul and/or testing.
Skills
- ASQ Certification as a Quality Engineer and/or Quality Inspector.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and commonly used ASTM standards.
- Experience auditing internally & externally.
- Knowledge of root cause investigation, calibration, measurement accuracy, effective corrective and preventive action, problem solving, process improvement, best workmanship practices.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- The ability to work well alone or in a team.

Pay
$90,000 - $105,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
