Bus Operator - Fixed Route (CDL required)

Requirements

• At least 21 years old
• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• A valid CDL driver’s license in good standing
• At least one year of professional driving experience

Responsibilities

• Drives fixed routes and operates vehicles and equipment (wheelchair lifts/ramps, bus)
• Drives sets routes and operates vehicles and equipment (wheelchair lifts/ramps, bus headsigns, radios, fareboxes, etc.) safely and reliably
• Operates vehicles for official transit business only and by the system’s safety plan
• Provides customer courtesy to all passengers, including providing information on bus transit services and fares in an accurate and friendly manner
• Provides passenger assistance in boarding and alighting, especially for customers who are elderly, mobility impaired, or who have small children with them
• Collects and reports passenger fares and ridership in an accurate, honest manner
• Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to the procedure, noting mechanical failures and maintenance needs on a Daily Vehicle Inspection Report
• Provides accurate survey documentation (i.e.: boarding/alighting, shelters/benches, obstructing tree limbs, maintenance issues, etc.)
