Position Overview
Performs various tasks relating to the transport of passengers in a passenger bus for District 6. This is a part-time, on-call, as-needed position. Must be available for flexible schedules including out-of-town, overnight, and weekend trips.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operates a tour bus safely and efficiently.
- Assists passengers in boarding and exiting vehicle, if required.
- Maintains awareness of traffic and weather conditions and reports potential issues to dispatch.
- Reports accidents or safety concerns to dispatch.
- Monitors and reports malfunctioning items or damage on a vehicle.
- Ensures proper inspection of vehicle at start of each shift, including headlights, turn signals, brakes, air conditioning/heating, mirrors, tire pressure, windshield wipers, and vehicle damage.
- Responsible for cleaning and refueling vehicle during shifts.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness inside and outside of the vehicle.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in the operation of a passenger bus.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of people.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle safety regulations.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR techniques.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on small commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Excellent navigation skills.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility to drive a tour bus.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
Other Requirements
- At least 21 years old and hold a valid Alabama Driver's License.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement.
- A satisfactory driving record with no more than 2 moving violations and no accidents within the past three years, no suspensions, disqualifications, or revocations.
- Two years of verifiable experience operating commercial or large vehicles or completion of a qualified, comprehensive driver training program.
- Maintain a good driving record with the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
- Pass a drug screen and physical.
- No prior history of drug/alcohol abuse or addiction.
- No conviction of a felony, crime of moral turpitude, or driving offense involving alcohol or other drugs.
Schedule
As needed; weekend flexibility; up to 29 hours per week.
