Bus Driver Non CDL - Day Camp

About the role

The bus driver, under the direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, is responsible for the safe transportation of all campers and staff while en route to and from Y Day camp locations and off-site events.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the basic skills of courtesy and safe driving to campers in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Take attendance and provide safety information at the start of each trip.
  • Inspect the vehicle for all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Follow all traffic regulations and guidelines and drive in a manner that ensures the safety of passengers.
  • Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
  • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Metro Atlanta YMCA for New Staff Orientation, Branch Emergency procedures, and any other required certifications or training.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reporting incident/accident paperwork.
  • Attend all staff camp training.
  • Communicate positively with parents and staff.
  • Exemplify YMCA ideals, leadership qualities, and demonstrate values in daily interactions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified).
  • Pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicles Record (MVR) check.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Pass background checks, Bright from the Start (BFTS) background checks, and drug screening.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.
