ManagementFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with headings

for sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Only include sections if posting has real specific content. Remove boilerplate, duplicated lines, etc. Must preserve all substantive info. We need to parse the posting. Key info: - Job Title: Bus Driver (but we don't repeat as heading) - Department: Transportation - Supervisor: Director (Transportation Director) - Salary Schedule: ESP (84) - Lane Placement: I - Contract Length: Hourly - FLSA Classification: Non-exempt - Last Review Date: July 2020 - Hours per week: 0-29 - Offer paid training to get CDL with school bus endorsement. - Contact info: Dave Gatti, Transportation Director, (385)-646-7169, email dgatti@graniteschools.org - Closing note: posting closes at 3:00 pm on date listed above (but we remove boilerplate? The instruction: Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. The closing note might be considered application instruction? It's about posting close time; maybe we can drop it as it's not substantive? It's a note about closing; but we might keep as minor metadata? The instruction: "Do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short

or drop it." So we can include contact info and hours per week in a short paragraph. - Job Summary: description. - Essential Functions list (bulleted). We'll put under Responsibilities maybe. - Non-Essential Functions: "Other duties as assigned*" plus note. Might be considered boilerplate? It's not essential but still part of description. Could include under Responsibilities as a note. - Required Education And Qualifications list. - Re-Certification list. - Required Prior Experience: None. - Required Knowledge And Skills list. - Assigned Decision Making list. - Interactions With Others. - Supervisory Responsibility. - Budget Responsibility: NA. - Working Environment list. - Physical Requirements list. We need to decide sections: About the role (maybe job summary), Responsibilities (essential functions), Requirements (maybe education/qualifications), Qualifications (maybe certifications?), Skills (knowledge and skills), Benefits (paid training to get CDL), Pay (salary schedule?), Schedule (hours per week, contract length hourly). Also maybe Working Environment, Physical Requirements could be under Requirements or separate? But we only have allowed headings list; we can't add others. So we must fit content into those headings. If a section doesn't have specific content, we omit it. Thus we need to map: - About the role: Job Summary paragraph. - Responsibilities: Essential Functions list (maybe also Non-Essential Functions? but could be included as note). Also maybe "Assigned Decision Making" and "Interactions With Others" could be part of responsibilities. - Requirements: Could include Required Education And Qualifications, Re-Certification, Required Prior Experience (None), maybe Physical Requirements? But Physical Requirements is more like requirements. Could also include Working Environment? Might be better to put under Requirements. - Qualifications: Could be similar to Requirements; but we need to avoid duplication. Perhaps we separate: Requirements = education/qualifications/certifications; Qualifications = knowledge and skills? But we also have Skills heading. So maybe: - Requirements: Education, certifications, prior experience, re-certification. - Qualifications: Knowledge and skills (maybe also decision making, interactions). - Skills: Could be specific skills like first aid, defensive driving, etc. But we already have knowledge and skills. Might be overlapping. Given the instruction: "Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones." So we should combine where possible. We have headings list: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We need to decide which to include. Let's extract substantive content: - About the role: Job Summary. - Responsibilities: Essential Functions list (operate buses, deliver students, monitor behavior, inspections, paperwork, communication, minor repairs, attend training, clean bus, drills, route sheets, wheelchair lift, first aid/CPR, train attendants, enforce rules). Also maybe "Assigned Decision Making" (modify routes, discipline strategies, first aid decisions). Also "Interactions With Others" (positive interactions). Also "Supervisory Responsibility: Supervision of student safety." Could be part of responsibilities. - Requirements: Required Education And Qualifications (CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, safe driving record, new driver training within 90 days, learner's permit, behind-the-wheel, driving assessment, DOT drug screening and physical). Re-Certification (renew CDL every 5 years, state certification program, annual physical, random DOT drug screenings, safe driving record, eight-hour in-service each year). Required Prior Experience: None. Physical Requirements (speak/hear, stand/walk/reach/stoop/kneel/crouch, occasionally handle, climb, vision abilities, sit long periods, move/lift under 100 lbs). Working Environment (constant attention, intervene behavior, adverse weather, split shifts, medically fragile students, wheelchair lift, tolerant of extreme weather, canyon/rural/city driving). Budget Responsibility: NA (maybe not needed). FLSA Classification Non-exempt, Salary Schedule ESP (84), Lane Placement I, Contract Length Hourly, Hours per week 0-29, Last Review Date July 2020, Supervisor Director, Department Transportation. These could be considered metadata; we could fold into a short paragraph under About the role or a separate "Details" but not a heading. Since we cannot add new headings, we could include them in About the role paragraph. - Qualifications: Could be Knowledge and Skills list (familiar with mechanical operation, recognize mechanical problems, knowledge of laws/policies, effective communication, student behavior management, first aid, fuel economy, defensive driving, special education policies, two-way radio). Also Assigned Decision Making maybe. - Skills: Could be more specific like "Ability to operate wheelchair lift, perform first aid/CPR, etc." But we already covered. - Benefits: Paid training to get CDL with school bus endorsement. - Pay: Salary Schedule ESP (84), Lane Placement I (maybe indicates pay grade). Could include. - Schedule: Hours per week: 0-29, Contract Length Hourly (maybe indicates hourly). Also split shifts mentioned in Working Environment. We need to avoid filler like "commensurate with experience". Not present. We must not repeat job title as heading. We must not include boilerplate like EEO etc. Not present. We must not include duplicated lines. We must preserve all substantive info; not invent or summarize away detail. Thus we need to include all the lists essentially. We need to decide how to structure. Potential approach:

About the role

[Job Summary] plus maybe metadata like department, supervisor, schedule, pay grade, hours, FLSA, last review.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various brands, sizes, and types of school buses (up to 15 tons GVW or up to 40 ft long)
  • Deliver students to and from school in a safe manner
  • Monitor and model appropriate behavior and intervene when necessary
  • Perform a state-required pre- and post-trip safety inspection of the bus including an under-the-bus inspection and adding necessary fluids
  • Complete all state and district-required forms and paperwork
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Make minor repairs in route
  • Attend all training required by state and district
  • Effectively clean bus
  • Conduct regularly scheduled safety and bus evacuation drills
  • Maintain detailed route sheets
  • Operate wheelchair lift and properly secure students to their seats when necessary
  • Perform first aid/CPR
  • Supervise and train adult attendants on the bus
  • Enforce school bus safety rules and policies
  • Modify routes to meet student needs and communicate changes to supervisory staff
  • Use appropriate and approved student management and discipline strategies (driver may NEVER suspend student riding privileges)
  • Decide appropriate action with regards to first aid for minor injuries on bus (always notify parents of injury)
  • Supervise student safety (supervisory responsibility)
  • Positive interactions with students, parents, staff, teachers, administration and other outside agencies
But we might be duplicating some items; we need to ensure we include all essential functions and decision making and interactions. We also need to include "Working Environment" and "Physical Requirements". Where to put? Could be under Requirements or Qualifications. Since we have Requirements heading, we can include physical requirements and working environment there.

Requirements

  • Attain CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements
  • Possess a safe driving record as demonstrated by their MVR report
  • Complete new driver training course within ninety days of hire
  • Complete state requirements for Learner's Permit
  • Complete behind-the-wheel training
  • Pass driving assessment
  • Pass the State-required Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screening and physical
  • Renew CDL every five years
  • Complete the State-required certification program (including required classes and other learning requirements)
  • Pass annual State-required physical assessment
  • Participate in all random DOT drug screenings
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Complete an eight-hour in-service training each year of employment (including the first year)
  • Required Prior Experience: None
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to move and lift under 100 lbs.
  • Working Environment: Constantly pay attention to students during loading, unloading, and transit. Intervene with student behavior when necessary (gang issues, weapons, fighting, etc.). Be able to safely operate a bus in a safe manner in adverse weather conditions. Work split shifts. Work with medically fragile students including operating a wheelchair lift. Be tolerant of extreme weather circumstances (heat and cold). Canyon, rural, and city driving can be expected during any regular driving day.
But we need to avoid too long paragraphs inside
  • . Could break into multiple
  • items. Better to split physical requirements into multiple bullet points. Similarly working environment. We also need to include "Budget Responsibility: NA" maybe not needed. Now Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills list.

    Qualifications

    • Be familiar with the mechanical operation of the bus and be able to make minor repairs
    • Be able to recognize mechanical problems and report them to bus technicians
    • Possess knowledge of laws and policies (state, interstate, and district)
    • Possess effective communication skills for interactions with students, parents, fellow bus drivers, and supervisory staff
    • Possess student behavior management skills
    • Possess skills in first aid, fuel economy, and defensive driving
    • Know special education policies and laws and be able to appropriately interact with special education students
