Profile
Requirements and Responsibility of the Bus Driver
- Safely operate transit buses on city streets and freeway traffic
- Provide excellent customer service to all passengers
- Follow assigned routes and make designated stops
- Aid passengers with disabilities, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and DVIRs
- Communicate delays, incidents, detours, and service updates to dispatch
- Handle fare collection and maintain accurate passenger counts
- Follow all traffic laws, safety policies, and company procedures
- Report accidents, injuries, or unusual incidents according to policy
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements
- Must pass a DOT Physical and applicable background checks
- Ability to work various shifts (schedules based on seniority)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to safely operate large vehicles (paid training provided if needed)
- Stable, union-protected career
