About the role

This role supports the assembly of copper bus required for electrical equipment. The overall objective is to provide high quality craftsmanship when assembling copper bus and similar conductive material using best in class installation techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Support the effort to be a best-in-class manufacturer through the fabrication of high-quality products that exceed our clients’ expectations by operating either the Punch Press or Break Press machines to cut holes or bend materials as needed for the fabrication of our products.
  • Retrieve the punch list, parts list, and applicable CNC programs to create parts as needed per job.
  • Locate and move or pull raw sheet metal material as described by the parts list per job.
  • Load materials onto the machine in preparation for punch or break and safely secure materials on the machine with the use of clamps, fingers or other fixtures.
  • Select die clearance, punches, tools, or other attachments needed to complete projects based on the specifications of the materials; install and align them as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Coordinate with other CNC Operators to enter commands or adjust machine controls to correct errors, especially while operating the break press.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, well-organized work area.
  • Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required.
  • Train with the Bus CNC Foremen to develop the skills and learn how to operate both machines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • 0-1 year of sheet metal fabrication or CNC operator
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints
    • Excellent mechanical skills and aptitude in supporting CNC sheet metal equipment, the ability to visualize 3D parts from cut sheets
    • Good math skills and qualified basic computer skills
    • Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others
    • Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures, and integrity
  • Attendance & Punctuality: Maintain 97% attendance rate with minimal tardiness
  • Teamwork & Communication: Receive positive feedback from team leaders or operators on responsiveness and attitude
  • Continuous Improvement Participation: Actively contribute at least one improvement idea per quarter
  • Safety Compliance: Zero safety violations or incidents; full adherence to PPE and safety protocol

Preferred

  • Forklift Certification

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED required

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This is a FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis. Overtime may be required based on production demands, including extended shifts, weekends, or holidays.
  • The position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
