Responsibilities
- Aid students in entering or exiting the bus safely.
- Show highest ethical standards and personal integrity; report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisor or manager.
- Secure students using seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints as needed.
- Maintain classroom-like behavior and manage student conduct according to company policy.
- Document and report any violations or concerns to appropriate authorities.
- Ensure students take their belongings when leaving the bus.
- Assist the driver in maintaining a clean and presentable vehicle.
- Complete required paperwork and submit it promptly.
- Display professional behavior and promote company goodwill.
- Be punctual and perform duties safely.
- Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old; 19 years old in New York for School Bus Assistants.
- Meet physical and medical requirements.
- Pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings to remain qualified.
- Have a high degree of attention to detail and dexterity to handle various restraints and equipment.
- Ability to relate well to and work effectively with children.
- High level of professionalism and diplomatic skills when dealing with students, colleagues, parents, and school personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and assist students as necessary.
