Bus Assistant

Responsibilities

• Aid students in entering or exiting the bus safely.
• Show highest ethical standards and personal integrity; report suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisor or manager.
• Secure students using seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints.
• Maintain classroom-like environment by monitoring passengers and ensuring safety regulations and student conduct rules are followed.
• Document and report any violations or conduct concerns to appropriate authority.
• Ensure students take their belongings when leaving the bus.
• Assist the driver in maintaining a clean and presentable vehicle.
• Complete required paperwork and submit it promptly.
• Display professional behavior and promote company goodwill.
• Report to duty on time and perform all responsibilities safely.
• Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old; 19 years old for New York School Bus Assistants.
• Meet physical and medical requirements.
• Satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings.
• Have a high degree of attention to detail and dexterity.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• High level of professionalism and diplomatic skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
