Bus Aide (26-27)

Reports to: Director of Transportation

Job Goal

To assist in providing safe transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s program for students.

Qualifications

• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
• Time schedule will be assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good conduct on the bus.
• Assumes responsibility for ensuring children remain in their seats.
• Assures that students get on and off the bus in a safe, orderly fashion.
• Provides mild supervision over children who misbehave, reporting serious offenses to the bus driver or the child’s teacher.
• Collects and turns over to the school staff any personal items left on the bus by students.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.
• Must be physically able to assist or remove students from the bus in case of emergency.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators, and other staff members.
• Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
• Must be able to physically assist or remove students from the bus in case of an emergency.
• Must lift up to 40 lbs. and/or push/pull up to 100 lbs., such as student equipment and wheelchairs.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the administrator.
