Bun Prep (PM Shift)
About the role
As a Bun Prep you will support daily kitchen operations by efficiently operating and maintaining specialized bun and dessert dumpling machinery. You will manage the full production cycle, from loading and unloading steamers to packing, sealing, and labeling finished products according to health regulations and Din Tai Fung standards. A key focus of this role is performing rigorous quality control checks to ensure every item meets our strict consistency and presentation benchmarks.

Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain specialized bun and dessert dumpling machinery
- Manage the full production cycle, including loading and unloading steamers, packing, sealing, and labeling finished products
- Perform rigorous quality control checks to ensure consistency and presentation benchmarks
- Keep all kitchen areas clean and sanitized
- Organize items within the walk-in coolers and freezers
- Lift and move boxes, bags, chairs, and tables (up to 50 pounds)
- Assist with regular deep cleaning of the kitchen
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all proprietary information, including recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Requirements
- Friendly, energetic, and highly motivated with a strong work ethic
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Assist in operating and cleaning bun and dessert dumpling-related machinery
- Monday-Saturday availability preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to work in wet or humid conditions, near moving parts, in extreme heat and cold
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per day and push a cart weighing up to 100 lbs
- Must follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid injury
- Must be 18 years of age or older and able to provide documentation to work in the United States legally
Physical Demands
- Frequently work in wet or humid conditions, near moving parts, in extreme non-weather heat, and in extreme non-weather cold
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Constant exposure to both hot and cold temperature conditions
- Must practice proper body mechanics and use PPE such as cutting gloves, back support belts, goggles, and long gloves when working with chemicals
