About the role
Sets up and maintains the condition of the department according to company standards, including bulk food bins and machines (e.g., honey, peanut butter, etc.). Consistently provides friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Ensures product quality and selection.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes, engages, serves, and thanks customers; maintains an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service.
- Breaks down freight by moving product, placing it in inventory, and operating equipment such as forklifts.
- Places product in barrels and dispensers by retrieving product, moving it by cart, opening boxes, and stocking the correct location.
- Oversees the coffee area by grinding, making coffee, and stocking supplies.
- Maintains various machines (e.g., honey, peanut butter) by loading product, cleaning machines and areas, and maintaining supplies of containers.
- Ensures a safe and secure work environment.
- Performs customer service duties such as helping customers find products and using suggestive selling techniques.
- Maintains cleanliness and visual appeal of the work area, storage area, and selling floor by mopping, sweeping, and taking out trash.
- Performs duties with honesty and integrity.
Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to communicate (hearing and speech) with customers to receive orders, upsell, and perform customer relation skills.
- Ability to conduct visual inspections and read/follow guides, recipes, and product labels.
- Physical ability to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects up to approximately 20–30 lbs. frequently and 30–50 lbs. occasionally, from floor level to overhead.
- Ability to push and pull handtrucks, carts, and pallet jacks containing heavy product.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods; bend, stoop, twist, climb ladders, and turn frequently.
- Ability to perform safe, quick movements and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
- Exhibits interpersonal skills through oral and written communication.
- Ability to work with potential hazards related to equipment, tools, and cleaning chemicals; handles food products safely.
- Wears required personal protective equipment such as hats, hairnets, and gloves.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must possess a Food Handlers Certification as required by state laws.
Machines and Equipment Operated
- Knives, wrappers, scales, trash compactors, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, cardboard bailers, and ladders.
For minors hired, hours and equipment operated may differ.
Pay
USD $21.82 – USD $26.60 per hour
