Buildings & Grounds Attendant - Part Time - San Diego Zoo Safari Park

About the role

The Buildings and Grounds Attendant ensures cleanliness of guest and team member areas, and sorting and diversion of waste streams to maximize re-use and recycling. This position sustainably cleans, maintains, and sanitizes grounds, stands, patios, lobbies, restrooms, offices, lockers, and tour vehicles. Reports to the Buildings and Grounds Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.

Responsibilities

• Use radio to communicate issues, respond to calls, and assist other team members.
• Demonstrate commitment to environmental care by pulling and relining trash, recycling, and compost receptacles; collecting food trays; sorting waste streams; cleaning glass and mirrors; wiping tables and chairs; and polishing and organizing workstations.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, floors, hand dryers, hygiene containers, vents, drains, partitions, and restocking paper products.
• Maintain cleanliness of walkways, streets, and pathways by sweeping, hosing, using a leaf blower, pushing puddles, and collecting debris.
• Clean and maintain restaurant patios and lobbies by sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping, wiping glass, removing cobwebs, dusting, and wiping surfaces.
• Maintain office cleanliness by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing floors and surfaces, removing trash/recyclables, cleaning glass and windowsills, and proper disposal of red bags.
• Provide outstanding guest service through an approachable and helpful demeanor, assisting with directions, providing useful information, and answering guest questions.
• Maintain floor cleanliness using a deck brush, floor scrubber, mop, and a variety of cleaning and disinfecting chemicals.
• Drive society vehicle, load and unload items, and transport supplies to different locations.

Requirements

• Flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Successful completion of a Physical Ability Test.
• California driver’s license upon hire.

Skills and Knowledge

Pay

Hourly Rate: $21.91

Location: Escondido, CA. Position Type: Hourly Part-Time Non-Exempt Union Position.
