Building Trades Maintenance Worker (Part-Time)
Job Description
The Building Trades Maintenance Worker (Half-Time) is a part-time (20 hours per week), year-round position at Amherst College. The expected salary range is $22.49 to $25.00, with the actual salary varying based on relevant education, training, and experience.
The position is designated as providing essential services and may be required to report to work or remain on duty even when the College is closed. The work schedule may vary and corresponds to the College's operational needs, generally Monday through Friday.
Summary Of Responsibilities
- Perform general medium-skilled building trades, carpentry, and painting work to maintain safe and orderly conditions in buildings and adjacent grounds.
- Respond to various customer requests in accordance with established work routines and safety procedures.
- Assist other Building Trades staff members on projects that require more than one person to efficiently or safely accomplish tasks involving similar work described above.
- Provide special services for campus customers as directed by the Building Trades Supervisor or Service Center Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with basic carpentry tools and skills.
- Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Attention to detail.
- Successful completion of required reference and background checks.
- An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test.
- Valid driver's license and successful completion of Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program.
Preferred
- One year of carpentry experience.
- Painting experience.
