About the role

The successful candidate will have outstanding preventative maintenance skills and a commitment to teamwork, delivering best-in-class customer service and satisfaction. You will operate, monitor, and control the Building Automation System, providing intermediate expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining facility mechanical and HVAC equipment in a pharmaceutical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) for alarms and abnormal trends.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required actions (lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.).
  • Respond to and troubleshoot alarm conditions; escalate emergencies as needed.
  • Document room environmental deviations, root causes, and corrective actions in event reports.
  • Maintain daily operations and alarm logs in appropriate logbooks.
  • Perform routine building rounds to verify no emergency conditions exist; document findings in the Daily Log Book.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for outside contractors to issue safety work permits.
  • Coordinate with security personnel to respond to fire panel alarms.
  • Respond to and provide feedback on customer work orders.
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Follow safety guidelines, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Operate hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware.
  • Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility for customer needs.
  • Keep mechanical rooms clean and organized.
  • Provide shift coverage as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management or Lead.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 0-1 years of experience as a Building System Operator or HVAC maintenance mechanic in an industrial environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to pass a Tuberculosis test prior to employment and maintain annual negative results.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and complete fit testing for required respirators.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required; no sponsorship provided).
  • Agree to a background investigation, including fingerprinting and Security Risk Assessment approval (U.S. Department of Justice/FBI).
  • Complete all required training for acceptance into the Select Agent Program.
  • Pass pre- and/or post-hiring drug screening, including federal drug screening.
  • Comply with Personnel Quarantine Policy for Avian Influenza (5-day restriction from contact with susceptible avian species after entering designated research areas).
  • Willingness to provide shift coverage as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding.
  • Perform repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, and wrist movement.
  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions.
  • Ability to differentiate colors for wire color-coding.
  • Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed.
  • Cope with job-related stressors and work environment demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting BAS/BMS systems and controls (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Edstrom) using knowledge of Building Systems sequence of operations.
  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and process mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Fire Protection Systems.
  • Knowledge of Water Systems used in pharmaceutical applications.
  • Experience with cGMP requirements in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and working with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.

Pay

$28.00–$35.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.

Schedule

12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturday through Friday, on a rotating cycle of 3 days on and 2 days off.
