Building Supervisor

Responsibilities

• supervise and assign other facility maintenance and custodial personnel
• inspect semi-skilled repair and custodial work
• review and respond to complaints and requests from occupants or tenants regarding facility maintenance
• maintain liaison with service contractors, vendors and City trades personnel
• coordinate the set-up and arrangement of facilities for meetings and special events
• maintain facility staffing and maintenance budgets
• keep records
• train and rate the work of subordinates
• perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Three years of full-time experience performing building repair and maintenance work in a public or commercial facility requiring on-going, regular, semi-skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and custodial work.
• Note: City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
• A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
• Highly desirable: Supervisory experience and/or experience which demonstrates effective interpersonal skills.
