Building Sub Teacher

As a Building Substitute in the Turkeyfoot Valley Area School District, you will play a direct role in shaping the classroom experience for students.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instructional materials left by the absent teacher while maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom climate.
• Deliver and adapt lessons to diverse learning styles in line with the established curriculum.
• Engage students in activities, foster respect, and supervise them during class, transitions, and other school-related events.
• Communicate daily feedback to staff and administrators; report any issues or concerns.
• Follow all school and district policies, including emergency procedures.
• Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and high ethical standards.
• Remain flexible across grade levels, subjects, and school environments.
• Use classroom materials and technology as directed; leave the room organized for the returning teacher.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
• Willingness to complete and pass required clearances and training—mandated reporter training, physical, TB test—typically within one week.
• Ability to quickly build rapport with students and adapt to varied classroom settings.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Familiarity with school policies and procedures.
• Flexibility to accept different teaching assignments.
• Completed background check and clearance.
• Physical capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping throughout an eight-hour day.

Pay

Starting rate: $135.00 per day.

Schedule

Part-time hours align with the school district calendar; when school is off, you are off.
