Building Science & Resiliency (Senior Project Manager)
About the role
The Senior Project Manager of Building Science & Resiliency will lead the team in executing technical project work, managing client relationships, and assisting in the development of regional strategies. They will also oversee project budgets, engage in professional organizations, and lead by example.
Responsibilities
- Lead in keeping the team and all stakeholders safe.
- Lead project teams in the execution of technical project work, and perform senior review, and client management duties where appropriate.
- Assist the Manager in developing and implementing regional strategies aligned with the Company’s goals.
- Oversee project budgets and keep staff on task.
- Meet with clients and attend Client and Industry organization meetings/events.
- Work to foster strong relationships with existing Clients and develop new Clients.
- Lead project team, providing direction, mentorship, coaching, and fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
- Gather opportunities for work and then prepare/review proposals for potential work.
- Aid the Manager to help drive a culture of effective people management and career development with a focus on growth and preparing successors for key roles.
Requirements
- 4+ years experience in the construction/building industry.
- Valid driver’s license and an adequate motor vehicle report.
- 1+ years of previous management experience.
- Technical understanding of building enclosure systems (waterproofing, roofing, facades, glazing, fenestrations, air/vapor barriers, etc.) and construction.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to travel 30% of time outside of immediate region.
- Experienced with typical Microsoft Office Suite to support and run a business.
- Ability to visit projects/job sites and work outside during all seasons.
Preferred Requirements
- 6+ years of direct work experience in the construction industry.
- Technical or bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering, architecture, construction management, etc.).
- Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Licensed General Contractor.
- IIBEC, LEED, CSI, PMI, or other industry credentials.
- Ability to bring in building science work to the team.
- Knowledge of applicable construction and testing standards (ASTM, AAMA, etc.), and the ability to train staff in the setup and execution of tests.
- Strong graphic communications skills (sketches/drafting).
- Skilled in detailed analysis (calculations/modeling).
- Experience in the forensic assessment and rehabilitation of existing building enclosures.
- Experience in the commissioning of building enclosures.
