Performance Responsibilities

• Fosters a positive school culture and climate.
• Implements programs to improve student learning outcomes.
• Makes sure student progress and performance data is monitored.
• Supports teacher professional learning and effective instructional practices.
• Works collaboratively with district administrators to maintain consistent administrative practice in the operation of the schools.
• Maintains current and thorough knowledge of state and national education initiatives and consults the Superintendent of Schools regarding their impact on the leadership of the school.
• Participates in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel, including substitutes and volunteers.
• Leads and ensures the development, appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
• Organizes and administers the public relations program for the school in alignment with the BSD strategic plan.
• Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.
• Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances including all expenditures.
• Supervises the maintenance of required records and all reports required by local, state, and federal agencies.
• Promotes a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
• Builds and maintains relationships with faculty, parents, and community contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the school.

Requirements

• Maine K-12 Principal Certification required.
• Experience preferred.

Pay

Principal, Elementary School: $112,347 - $121,505 yearly

Schedule

STEP PLACEMENT: Upon initial hire, an administrator will be placed on the salary step that best corresponds to previous administrative experience as determined by the Superintendent:

• STEP A: Administrators with less than two (2) years of experience.
• STEP B: Administrators with at least two (2) but not more than three (3) years of prior experience as an administrator.
• STEP C: Administrators with at least three (3) years of prior experience as an administrator.
