Building Operator Level 2
Responsibilities
- Support preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, light, electrical, roofing, fire prevention and life safety systems and maintaining updated records of such activities
- General maintenance and housekeeping, including painting, sweeping, litter pick up, and pressure washing
- Conduct and log environmental/preventative maintenance assessments and/or inspections
- Maintain daily maintenance logs of all base building equipment
- Participate in corporate occupational health and safety program
- Aid with waste, recycling and hazardous materials issues
- Aid other team members with completion of tasks
- Aid in insurance and risk management inspections, remedial actions and reporting
- Assist with trades in completing tasks and services and liaise with Tenants in completing tasks
- Monitor and operate the Building Automation Systems (BAS) and various computerized control systems
- Remain current and up to date with new industry practices, legislative changes and new technologies
- Purchase and inventory control of equipment and supplies as necessary; consider sustainability when evaluating options for replacement equipment
- Perform monthly fire alarm testing of all fire systems and life safety equipment
- Maintain all electrical, mechanical and maintenance rooms for cleanliness and organization
- Familiar with all aspects of the electrical building operations, mechanical and related systems to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Aid in programmed marketing events and third-party site rentals
- Respond quickly and efficiently to tenant and management requests. Complete preventative/demand maintenance tasks and input histories as required
- Available for on-call and after-hours emergencies
- Seek opportunities to improve energy consumption
- Other assigned duties
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ related work experience in a similar position
- Retail experience is considered an asset
- 4th Class Power Engineer (or equivalent) or working towards
- Valid Driver’s License
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong initiative and team work skills
- Previous Building Operator experience, Retail experience preferred
Pay
The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $66,000-$70,000. The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.

About the role
The Building Operator, Level 2 is an intermediate position responsible for performing maintenance and repair activities for Cloverdale Shopping Centre. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Building Operator ensures that the building(s) are managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and to the highest level of operational efficiency. The required tasks of this position will be handled either personally or by way of contracted services.
