The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a dynamic Assistant Building Manager to join our Facilities Management Division (FMD) in Sacramento, CA. Under the general direction of the Office Building Manager IV (OBM IV), the Office Building Manager III serves as the Building Manager over the Joe Serna Jr Building/CalEPA HQ, and is responsible for directing and supervising a large staff engaged in the overall custodial operations and maintenance services for a 950,000 sq/ft building in a major metropolitan area of State-owned and occupied buildings and grounds in accordance with Facilities Management Division (FMD) policies and procedures. This position is responsible for the overall administration and maintenance of the Joe Serna Jr Building/CalEPA HQ, including management of customer service and the operational budget, and will plan and assign work of subordinate staff, and develop an overall master maintenance schedule. As the Office Building Manager III, you will be responsible for: Manages and oversees the day-day-operations of the assigned building(s) and staff by developing overall master maintenance schedulesReviews and approves final budget estimates for repair, maintenance, and custodial operationsManages the project management of contracted services, building and tenant alterations, capital improvements, and special repairsSupervises, directs, and evaluates subordinate staff by monitoring and establishing performance expectations and requirementsProject management of contracted services such as building alternations and improvementsAdministering health and safety programs and related training Come join a team that creates:A collaborative team atmosphere founded upon ethics, integrity, and stewardship.A positive work environment that is open to change and invites its workforce to challenge processes.An opportunity for individuals to utilize their knowledge, skills, and experience to grow within the department. To be successful in the role, you must meet the qualifications below: Four years of progressively responsible building management experience, one year of which shall have involved the supervision of a large office, institutional building, or group of buildings of at least 300,000 square feet, involving public contacts and responsibility for a large maintenance and custodial staff.
