About the role

Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate investment and management firm, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains building system operations and performance.
  • Utilizes various trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.
  • Supports work performed by outside contractors, including landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbers, and cleaning.
  • Performs repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
  • Completes maintenance and repair records as directed.
  • Reviews assigned work orders and estimates time and materials needed to complete repairs.
  • Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete tasks.
  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements as directed.
  • Performs carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as needed.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in building maintenance and trade skills, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, EMS and other building mechanical systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
  • A valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Work Conditions & Essential Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, power hand grasping, and reaching above and below shoulder level.
  • Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment and machinery.
  • May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally weighing up to 75 pounds.
