Building Maintenance, Night Shift

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities and Grounds Manager, the Building Maintenance worker performs journeyman-level tasks across various building trades and other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building repairs to campus facilities, equipment, fixtures, and furnishings.
• Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests from supervisors, the work order system, and the Merrimack College Police Department during regular business hours, evenings, weekends, and other assigned shifts.
• Assist with snow and ice removal, grounds maintenance, furniture and equipment deliveries, and event setup and breakdown as needed.
• Monitor, inspect, and reset building systems and components, including fire alarm systems, HVAC controls, lighting, and electrical systems, to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Maintain the appearance and functionality of campus buildings by performing litter and graffiti removal, making minor repairs and adjustments, and providing custodial support as needed.
• Identify maintenance deficiencies and initiate work orders or notify supervisors of repairs requiring additional time, specialized trades, or outside services.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all applicable safety procedures, departmental policies, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental and institutional operations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Five years of related building maintenance experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and locksmith trades.
• Ability to read blueprints and maintain accurate logbooks as required.
• Knowledge of power tools.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid hoisting license, or willingness to obtain one.
