About the Role
Under limited supervision, perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration, and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings, and site improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install, and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building codes.
- Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows, and other related items.
- Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction, and operation activities.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental, and conduct rules.
- Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as assembling, moving, repairing, hanging, and adjusting furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows, and other office items; assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, and inventory management.
- Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.
- Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.
- Read, interpret, review, revise, and correct blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, and instructions related to assigned work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Completion of HireVue Building Tech and Other Technician-Related Roles Virtual Job Tryout assessment (untimed, typically takes about 45 minutes).
- Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred; must be willing to pursue the certification.
- For PSO Building Maint Techs: City of Tulsa 1st Class Engineer licenses preferred; must be willing to pursue the licenses.
- Overtime required; overnight travel may be required.
- Scheduled as well as unscheduled weekend and evening shift work may be required; expected to respond to emergency call-out work.
- Requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather.
- Must live or be willing to relocate within 45 miles of the Columbus NE Service Center (4909 Westerville Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43231).
Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to utilize a computer.
- Constant standing; frequent walking; occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, squatting, kneeling.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry equipment up to and in excess of 50 lbs.
Physical Demands
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Pay
Building Maintenance Tech A: $36.80 - $38.97 per hour.
Compensation Grade: U025-110. Compensation Range: $38.27 - $39.40.
