Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting new, altered, or existing buildings for code compliance with the International Building Code.
- Communicating complex building issues to contractors, owners, and the public, emphasizing life/safety regulations.
- Providing guidance on code requirements, analyzing plans and specifications, and issuing correction notices.
- Applying technical building knowledge, interpreting codes, and making independent decisions during inspections.
- Advising relevant departments on building-related matters and enforcing safety standards per OSHA.
Qualifications and Skills
- ICC certifications (e.g., B1, B2, E1, M1, P1) demonstrating knowledge of laws, codes, and safety standards.
- Understanding of construction practices, plan review, and code enforcement.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read plans, interpret codes, and conduct physical inspections (kneeling, climbing ladders).
Pay and Benefits
- Hourly pay of $35 to $42.79, commensurate with experience.
