Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer

About the role

The Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer is a full-time, cross-trained position in the Building Department.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and perform inspections of buildings and structures in the course of construction, alterations, or repairs to ensure compliance with all existing code requirements.
• Conduct regular duties related to property maintenance in support of the Village of Shorewood municipal code and ordinances.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of building codes and ordinances.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in building inspection or code enforcement.
• Experience with computerized building permit systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
