Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing the building department's operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, and providing technical guidance to developers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve construction plans and permits
• Inspect buildings and construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes
• Provide technical assistance and training to developers and contractors
• Enforce building codes and regulations
• Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building code violations
• Prepare reports and documentation as required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and plan review
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of building safety and fire prevention

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000 annually
