About the role
SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve building plans and permits according to local building codes and regulations.
- Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
- Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure compliance with land use policies.
- Provide technical guidance and training to contractors and developers on building codes and regulations.
- Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building and zoning issues.
- Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations and ensure compliance with updated standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection, zoning enforcement, or related field.
- Knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- Experience with computer software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Pay
Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
