Building Engineering Plans Examiner (Associate Civil Engineer)

The City of Fairfield is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Associate Civil Engineer (Plan Check) who thrives in a collaborative public service environment and demonstrates strong independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Perform plan review and coordination for complex private development and public improvement projects
- Interpret and apply engineering standards, municipal codes, and applicable regulations
- Manage assignments with minimal supervision, prioritize competing deadlines, and build effective working relationships with internal staff, developers, consultants, and the public
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering
- Possession of a current registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California
- Three years of professional civil/structural engineering experience in the review of plans and specifications and/or the analysis and design of residential, commercial and industrial buildings
- Current registration as a civil engineer in the State of California
- Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License
- Possession of a valid equivalent is acceptable during the application process
- Highly desirable: Current registration as a Plans Examiner Certificate from the International Code Council
- Possession of a valid ICC (International Code Council) Plans Examiner Certificate within one (1) year of hire date
- Possession of a valid CASp (Certified Access Specialist) certification

Pay
Estimated Total Compensation: $162,870 - $191,290*
