Building Engineer (Mobile)

CBRE is looking for Mobile Building Engineers to support several facilities in the North Charleston, SC area. This role involves performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and managing industrial systems, equipment, and ground requests. Must be comfortable with extensive daily travel within the Charleston area and live within a designated radius of the job site.

About the Role

This position is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function, responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repairs to mechanical, industrial, plumbing, structural, life safety, and control systems to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards.
• Review assigned work orders, estimate time and materials needed to complete repairs, and maintain inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life; oversee repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
• Review inspections of building and industrial systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure equipment operates within design capabilities.
• Oversee compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Operate company-issued vehicles in the execution of daily work responsibilities.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
• Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of your job discipline while building broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
• Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values, building consensus and convincing others to reach agreements.
• Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your team and related teams.
• Work within broad guidelines and policies, explaining difficult or sensitive information as needed.

Requirements

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to perform each duty satisfactorily, including commercial HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of four (4) years of proven experience as a building engineer.
• Universal EPA license required; mobile maintenance experience highly preferred.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks.
• Certification in two or more of the following: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair, as well as CFC Certification.
• Meet physical requirements, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
• Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience and apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
