About the role

As an experienced Building Engineer within Corporate Advisory & Solutions, you will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot building systems—including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical—focusing on routine maintenance, tenant requests, and safe system operation under the guidance of senior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems.
  • Address service requests such as hot/cold calls, plumbing issues, and lighting repairs.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and escalate issues as needed.
  • Replace light fixtures, filters, and other components.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and equipment performance.
  • Interact with tenants, contractors, and property managers; collaborate with senior engineers and technicians to support smooth building operations and resolve tenant issues.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks and contractor oversight.
  • Conduct property inspections to identify deficiencies.
  • Record equipment readings and ensure assigned building systems operate according to standards.
  • Follow company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations; report safety hazards; participate in safety inspections.
  • Provide guidance to junior Technicians when needed.
  • Communicate professionally—verbally and in writing—with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees, keeping stakeholders informed and updated.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills and participate in professional development programs to advance into higher-level roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two to three years of job-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience.
  • IUOE and Local 399 Union membership required.
  • OSHA certification required.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration required.
  • CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain as requested.
  • Possess engineering and trade licenses required by local, state, or national regulations.
  • Basic working knowledge of laptop and phone applications for work order and facility operation systems, as well as Microsoft Outlook.
  • Familiarity with fire/life safety equipment and procedures.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent internal and external customer service; ability to interact and communicate effectively with tenants, vendors, contractors, teammates, and leadership.
  • Familiarity with blueprints and code requirements.
  • Ability to work after hours, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations as needed.
  • Competent knowledge of tool use and care.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand manuals, procedures, and write reports.
  • Willingness to develop familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems and gain experience with BAS operation and troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.

Schedule

100% in-office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.

Pay

Pay range: $48 – $50 USD per hour.
