Building Engineer
About the role
The Building Engineer I is responsible for maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This role focuses on performing routine maintenance tasks, responding to tenant requests, and ensuring systems operate safely under the guidance of senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems.
- Address service requests, including hot/cold calls, plumbing issues, and lighting repairs.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and equipment performance.
- Conduct property inspections to identify deficiencies; assist with preventive maintenance tasks and contractor oversight.
- Follow company safety protocols and use PPE for all tasks; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations; report hazards immediately and participate in safety audits.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies; handle urgent tenant service requests and support recovery efforts during severe weather and system outages.
- Interact with tenants, contractors, and property managers; work closely with senior engineers and technicians.
- Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills; participate in professional development programs.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of job-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience.
- Engineering and trade licenses required per local, state, or national requirements.
- CFC Certification preferred.
- Developing familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; gaining experience with BAS operation and troubleshooting.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook and laptop/phone applications for work order systems, email, and training platforms.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.

Benefits
This position is 100% in-office. The role requires working in office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.
