What this job involves
As a Building Engineer at JLL, you'll play a critical role in optimizing facility operations within a manufacturing environment by applying engineering principles to ensure seamless production continuity. You'll be responsible for the installation, renovation, and maintenance of building systems that directly support organizational objectives and minimize production delays. This position requires a skilled professional who can balance preventive maintenance, emergency response, and strategic facility improvements while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment including HVAC rooftop units, plumbing, electrical systems, building automation, water treatment, and fire life safety systems
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshooting issues to minimize production downtime and ensure continuous facility operations
- Monitor building equipment performance, identify causes of structural and building-related failures, and provide tangible solutions for repair and restoration
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to building maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance using CMMS systems such as Corrigo
- Cook with outside vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services while ensuring work meets quality standards and safety regulations
- Assess building enclosures for failure, deficiency, and performance issues, and execute minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed
- Ensure the facility meets all safety and health regulations through regular inspections and compliance monitoring
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC trades, including rooftop units
- Working knowledge of building automation systems, water treatment systems, and fire life safety systems
- Proficiency with CMMS systems such as Corrigo for work order management and documentation
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, climb ladders or operate scissor lifts up to 40 feet, and perform equipment inspections in confined or difficult-to-access areas
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with computers, office automation applications, and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience working in manufacturing or industrial facility environments
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive team attitude
- Ability to detect and respond to emergency alarms (auditory and visual)
- Experience with frequent stair climbing and physical facility inspections
