About the role

Intertek’s Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is seeking a Building Enclosure Senior Project Manager to lead project teams, develop a client base, grow the local BSS team and business, and contribute technically across new construction and retrofit projects. The role involves full project responsibility including team management, mentoring, client relationship development, pursuit of new work, and review of technical deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead building enclosure commissioning projects and train staff in BECx processes and requirements
  • Provide building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and design/construction phase services for new buildings
  • Conduct investigations and assessments for existing buildings; develop remedial repair designs and construction-phase services as requested
  • Prepare proposals and professionally written deliverables (proposals, technical reports, design reviews)
  • Assist in meeting profit center financial goals and mentor team members
  • Help hire and train new building sciences team members and assist the department manager with business development locally and nationally
  • Balance staff workloads and pursue new work to ensure adequate utilization; participate in professional organizations, author papers, attend conferences, and serve on technical committees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Architectural Engineering and 7+ years in building enclosure consulting OR 10+ years in building enclosure consulting in lieu of degree
  • Excellent technical understanding of building enclosure systems and construction
  • Experience managing small to large projects and demonstrated building enclosure project management skills
  • Ability to perform office tasks and field/labor tasks (e.g., ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, roofs)
  • Strong organizational, project management, technical writing, and communication skills
  • Consistent and professional interaction with clients and project teams
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% outside the local area; valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report

Preferred Qualifications

  • Building enclosure commissioning experience and proficiency
  • Professional registration or ability to obtain within one year (e.g., AIA, NCARB, SE, PE)
  • Field and technical experience with diverse building types and enclosure systems
  • Additional registration or certification or ability to obtain within one year (e.g., CBECxP, CxA+BE, BECxP, REWC, RRC)
  • Proficiency in computer modeling tools such as THERM, WUFI, EnergyPlus, COMcheck
  • Experience with building enclosure testing (functional performance testing and investigative testing)
  • Property/façade condition assessments; Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam; AutoCAD/Revit/BIM/SketchUp proficiency; safety training/scaffold certification

Pay

The base wage or salary range for this position is $110,000 – $160,000. This position is bonus eligible. Individual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. This position will travel up to 25% outside the local area, dependent on project load.
