Responsibilities
- Identify and address field issues to maintain project progress.
- Monitor operations to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract terms, and specifications.
- Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with the contractor, DGS representatives, and other agencies.
- Review construction plans, inspect commercial or industrial buildings and other structures to determine compliance with applicable local, state, and national codes.
- Familiarize oneself with structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety building components.
- Document all field activities and work collaboratively with the owner and contractor.
- Represent Dewberry and clients in high capacities.
- Identify necessary changes to construction plans to meet field conditions.
- Make field measurements of pay items.
- Observe and monitor contractor’s construction equipment.
- Familiarize oneself with common computer programs such as MS Word and Excel for completing daily diaries, quantity calculations, and other required tasks.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred but not required).
- Certifications: C5 Commercial Combination Inspector, ICC inspector certification preferred; B2 Commercial Building Inspector, M2 Commercial Mechanical Inspector, P2 Commercial Plumbing Inspector, E2 Commercial Electrical Inspector certifications preferred.
- Proficient in commercial or residential building construction processes and applicable building codes and inspection techniques.
- Knowledgeable in document management software and construction management software (e.g., Smartsheet, SharePoint, FieldWire, GoCanvas, Plangrid, PowerBI).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to drive and maintain a clean driving record.
- Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
