About the Role

This role supports our Rolling Meadows, IL branch location, serving customers throughout the greater Chicago, IL area. As a Building Automation Systems Specialist, you will handle the centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and other systems through a building management system or building automation system (BAS). The objectives are improved occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, reduction in energy consumption and operating costs, and improved life cycle of utilities.

This position supports jobsites throughout our Midwest Zone, requiring 50%-75% travel. The ideal location for this position is Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Milwaukee, WI; Rolling Meadows, IL; or St. Louis, MO.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with building automation system startup, ensuring all systems and components are designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to customer requirements.
  • Work collaboratively, take ownership, act with integrity, and report to the local Supervisor while taking direction from a mentor and Lead Technician.
  • Assist with commissioning new Distributed Digital Control Systems on construction sites, ensuring all systems and components function as required.
  • Document commissioning details, communicate deficiencies, and report progress.
  • Plan work with a mentor, Lead Technician, and Team Leader.
  • Complete commissioning within planned timelines.
  • Submit accurate time-keeping daily and expenses weekly.
  • Work overtime when needed and accommodate out-of-state overnight travel, typically within the Midwest region.

Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications for Mid Level:
    • Electro-mechanical experience (from a previous role or education) and user PC/software skills.
    • 1+ year of experience with building automation systems, related education (BSME or Associate Degree in a technical field), or electrical experience.
    • Ability to read and understand design and construction documents.
    • Willingness and ability to work in various conditions, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment, and in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and outdoors in heat, cold, day, or night.
    • Ability to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, and carry/move equipment/tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
    • Willingness to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to customers.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
    • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and limited violations.
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
    • Available and willing to travel overnight 50%-75%.
  • Basic Qualifications for Entry Level:
    • 3-12 months of electro-mechanical experience (from a previous role or education) and user PC/software skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $54,121 - $92,779 annually. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget, candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
