About the role

Mechanical Services, Inc. is seeking a Building Automation Programmer for their Maine Controls division based in Portland.

Responsibilities

  • Program control sequences using PLC and/or DDC programming
  • Develop intuitive graphics for person-machine interfaces
  • Third party equipment integration and system commissioning
  • Diagnose and correct systemic problems
  • Modify sequences to improve system performance and energy efficiencies
  • Work with database software, perform system backups, monitor networks, manage data security, and maintain IT infrastructure
  • Understand and work with HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, air-handlers, pumps, and other building systems

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years of programming experience with PLC and/or DDC programming
  • Experience with Niagara Ax/N4, Distech, and web design
  • Ability to assess mechanical systems and diagnose/systemic problems
  • Strong knowledge of database software, system backups, network monitoring, data security, patching, anti-virus software, data switches, firewalls, and VPN connections
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment medical evaluation
  • State-wide travel with some overnight stays expected

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Knowledge of reading, writing, and understanding technical specifications, manufacturer’s documentation, engineering sequences, and building plans
  • Effective communication skills with engineers, customers, end-users, and all building trades
  • Safety and appropriate attire for accessing construction sites, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other areas
