About the role
KanPak®, a Golden State Foods company, is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of beverage, yogurt, and dessert solutions using aseptic technology. The Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician keeps the facility operating safely, efficiently, and at the highest standards by performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and groundskeeping. The role requires a high level of independence while coordinating closely with Engineering and Capital Project leadership to support food safety, regulatory compliance, and facility reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings, roofs, siding, walls, flooring, and exterior surfaces
- Complete interior and exterior painting projects as needed
- Repair and patch flooring to maintain safe walking surfaces
- Remove snow and apply salt to roadways, walkways, and access points
- Perform minor electrical repairs including wall switches, outlets, light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, and cords
- Perform minor plumbing repairs including fixing faucet and drain leaks, unclogging drains, trenching and laying small utility lines
- Replace HVAC filters and clean exhaust fans
- Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objectives for quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, cost, safety, and customer satisfaction at KanPak
- Participate in formulating and administering division’s short- and long-range goals and objectives for business growth
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment; operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, mowers, loaders, and snow plows
- Estimate time and materials needed for maintenance and repair tasks
- Work flexible hours as required to support facility needs; maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information; perform other related maintenance duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (must be maintained)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of safe work practices
Preferred Experience
- 1+ year of building and grounds maintenance experience
- Food manufacturing or food industry experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with hand and power tools (saws, drills, grinders, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)
- Experience operating forklifts and lift equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable
- Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and pride in work
Pay
Base Pay: $22/hour
Schedule
- Days: Tuesday–Friday 10-hour shift or Monday–Thursday 10-hour shift
- Shift: 6 a.m.–4 p.m.
Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to distinguish colors, sounds, and smells as required for safety and maintenance tasks
