Shift: Day Shift Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:00 pm

About the Role

Georgia-Pacific in Madison, GA manufactures pine plywood panels and siding that are ideal for residential and light commercial construction. GP employees strive for safety and health excellence while achieving an injury-free workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs the plant’s properties, including trash pickup, lawn care, weatherproofing, and operating landscaping equipment.
  • Maintains gardens and lawns: mowing, trimming hedges, watering plants, installing sprinkler and irrigation systems, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying pesticides.
  • Prepares outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc.
  • Operates and maintains garden and landscaping equipment.
  • Operates and maintains mobile equipment including but not limited to: riding lawn mower, skid steer, front-end loader, forklift, telehandler, etc.
  • Maintains and repairs buildings, equipment, and properties, including light maintenance of HVAC systems, plumbing, and minor repair/remodeling tasks such as painting walls, masonry and roofing repairs, plumbing repairs, replacing light bulbs, and repairing light fixtures.
  • Maintains, repairs, and requests all tools required for performing job duties.
  • Moves furniture, assembles furniture, and assembles equipment or tools as directed.
  • Moves parts and supplies through the mill as directed.
  • Prepares work orders after finishing each job for any follow-up or corrective actions from maintenance work required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or fills in other Building and Grounds team roles as required.
  • Adheres to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures, and actively participates in the safety program.
  • Works in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments, including extended periods in non-air-conditioned or unheated areas.
  • Performs tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 10 hours a day.
  • Works safely and adheres to all safety rules and regulations, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • 1 or more years of work experience in a facility buildings and grounds maintenance role or similar experience.

Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other PC-based production reporting systems (preferred).
  • Previous industrial experience in heavy industry (preferred).
