Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and clean work environment to all visitors and associates at the Melrose Park DC.
- Manage the warehouse facilities, equipment, and Building and Facility associates 24/7 to ensure accurate, economical, and efficient operation.
- Ensure all functions are performed within Company, Distribution Center, Department, and Federal, State, and Local agency guidelines.
- Supervise the Building and Facility workforce in accomplishing day-to-day assignments.
- Oversee the purchase of parts, tools, and materials/supplies for maintenance and sanitation tasks.
- Verify work orders to ensure they are properly documented for all job tasks.
- Conduct department and facility safety and sanitation surveys, assign work orders, and allocate personnel to correct and prevent equipment and facility deficiencies.
- Respond to and investigate accidents, near-miss situations, and equipment and facility integrity issues.
- Participate routinely in departmental and facility safety meetings.
- Oversee complex grounds for sanitation and maintenance opportunities, including landscape, pavement, and snow plowing/removal activities.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment and facility system symptoms.
- Ensure associates have the equipment and tools needed to perform their work and assist in securing necessary resources for equipment breakdowns.
- Maintain company policies and contractual agreements.
- Develop productive associates through training, coaching, and mentoring (and discipline when necessary) to achieve company goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Good supervisory skills and the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong administrative skills, including PC skills (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, CMMS).
- Extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of material handling equipment (forklifts, conveyors, sweeper/scrubber, AS/RS, building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, PLCs, etc.).
- Anhydrous Ammonia refrigeration experience desired.
- Analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.
- Ability to work under pressure, concentrate, and deal with frequent interruptions.
