As a Building & Grounds Mechanic based in Buffalo, NY, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for our operations.
This position works Sunday - Thursday with Friday and Saturday off.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of building and grounds maintenance, including pipe insulation, plumbing, painting, industrial floor repairs, wall repairs, demolition, and construction of structures (within reasonable limits).
- Handle building wiring as applicable and perform roof repairs.
- Conduct grounds upkeep, including trimming shrubbery, mowing lawns, and removing foreign materials.
- Remove snow in designated areas during winter months.
- Perform floor repairs using modern epoxy technology.
- Adhere to and uphold Plant’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Plant Safety Programs.
- Recommend changes or additions to GMP’s and Plant Safety Programs as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of Lactalis products and recipes.
- Attend departmental meetings and in-services as required.
- Perform all duties according to safety standards to ensure the well-being of all staff.
- Complete other work duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Previous industrial building and grounds experience preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to plan work and work independently.
- Skills in carpentry and masonry.
- Some trade schooling preferred.
