About The Role

The Budget Coordinator is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and finalizing accurate job-start budgets for residential construction projects. This role works closely with Architecture, Accounting, Purchasing, and the Field Team to ensure budgets accurately reflect construction plans, specifications, buyer selections, and established cost expectations. The Budget Coordinator plays an important role in moving homes from sales and estimating into construction by ensuring complete and accurate budgets are reviewed, finalized, and released to the field in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and finalize job-start budgets for assigned homes.
  • Code buyer contract upgrades, options, and customizations into BRIX.
  • Review plans, specifications, colors, and buyer selections to ensure budgets and purchase orders accurately reflect the buyer contract.
  • Review, adjust, and import estimator takeoffs to create material and other purchase orders.
  • Send and adjust budgets for the Field Team to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Work with Purchasing Agents to obtain bids and adjust costs for custom homes as needed.
  • Analyze base costs and budget costs to help ensure homes remain within established profit projections.
  • Coincide with Accounting to exchange and update information related to budgets and job costs.
  • Communicate with internal teams to identify and resolve issues and keep budgets moving through the approval and release process.
  • Review and address EPOs and assist with variance purchase orders as needed.
  • Ensure completed budgets are submitted for departmental review and released to the appropriate teams within established timelines.
  • Absorb weekend sales pricing approximately two weekend days per month; additional compensation applies for days worked.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, selections, and cost information.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with Architecture, Accounting, Purchasing, Sales, Production, and Field teams.
  • Residential homebuilding or construction experience preferred.
  • Experience with construction budgets, estimating, takeoffs, purchase orders, or material pricing preferred.
  • Experience with BRIX and/or AutoCAD preferred.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based and involves regular interaction with Architecture, Accounting, Purchasing, Sales, Production, and Field teams. The role requires extended computer use and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment where accuracy, organization, and timely communication are critical. Occasional weekend support is required for sales pricing, approximately two weekend days per month, with additional compensation for days worked.
