About the role
The United States Attorney's Office, District of New Jersey seeks to hire a skilled individual to assist in managing the budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing and administering budget and financial management activities.
Responsibilities
- Implementing and administering a variety of budget and financial management activities for the district.
- Administering a comprehensive financial management program, under the direction of the Budget Officer, which includes long-range programmatic plans and the annual budget as key components.
- Advising the District's management team on programmatic effectiveness relative to planned financial objectives.
- Preparing recommendations for achieving cost reductions.
- Ensuring that all obligations, expenditures, unobligated orders and available balances are properly maintained, supported, and documented.
- Preparing financial documentation for audits conducted by EOUSA, DOJ, GAO, 0MB and independent auditors.
Requirements
Typical work assignments will include:
- Reviewing account obligations and payments.
- Utilizing an automated accounting system to enter and verify a variety of obligations, verify and monitor expenditures, and monitor credit card obligations for accuracy and completeness.
- Conducting audits, tracking funds, and developing statistical reports.
- Overseeing the processing of travel authorizations, vouchers and claims.
Qualifications
To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions:
- Specialized Experience: Performing budget or financial management work which demonstrates an intensive knowledge of budget and finance policies, principles, and practices sufficient to manage the budget process.
- Education: Possessing a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related.
- Combining Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience and education as described which when combined equal 100% of the requirements.
